Eicher Motors Q1 FY27 Results: Net Profit Rises 21% to ₹1,463 Crore as Royal Enfield Records Highest-Ever Quarterly Sales; ₹1,225 Crore Expansion Plan Approved

IIE DIGITAL DESK ; July 30 : Eicher Motors has reported a strong financial performance for the first quarter of the financial year 2026-27, with the company's consolidated net profit rising significantly on the back of robust sales growth from its flagship motorcycle brand Royal Enfield and improved operational performance.

The automaker announced a 21% year-on-year increase in consolidated net profit, reaching ₹1,463 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2026. In the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year, Eicher Motors had recorded a consolidated net profit of ₹1,205 crore.

The company also witnessed strong growth in revenue during the quarter. Revenue from operations increased by 31.5% year-on-year to ₹6,632 crore, compared with ₹5,042 crore in Q1 FY26, reflecting higher vehicle sales and improved business momentum across its key segments.

At the operational level, Eicher Motors posted a healthy improvement in earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA). The company's EBITDA stood at ₹1,590 crore during the quarter, marking a growth of 32% compared with ₹1,203 crore reported in the same period last year.

The company's EBITDA margin also showed marginal improvement, rising to 23.98% from 23.86% year-on-year, indicating stable profitability despite changing market conditions.

A major contributor to Eicher Motors' performance was Royal Enfield, which achieved its highest-ever quarterly sales during the period. The iconic motorcycle brand sold 3,32,940 motorcycles in Q1 FY27, registering a growth of 27% compared with 2,61,326 motorcycles sold in the same quarter of the previous financial year.

Commenting on the performance, B. Govindarajan, Managing Director of Eicher Motors and Chief Executive Officer of Royal Enfield, said that the company had successfully maintained the strong momentum built during FY26. He highlighted that Royal Enfield achieved record quarterly sales, while VE Commercial Vehicles (VECV) also delivered its highest-ever first-quarter sales performance.

Govindarajan added that the quarter was particularly significant for Royal Enfield as the company began deliveries of its first electric motorcycle, the Flying Flea C6. He expressed confidence that a strong product launch pipeline and multiple brand initiatives planned for the rest of the year would help the company continue its growth journey in a competitive global environment.

Meanwhile, VE Commercial Vehicles (VECV), the commercial vehicle joint venture of Eicher Motors, also reported positive growth during the quarter. VECV's revenue from operations increased by 16.6% to ₹6,610 crore compared with ₹5,671 crore in the previous year.

VECV's EBITDA during Q1 FY27 rose 6.1% to ₹541 crore, compared with ₹511 crore in the same quarter last year. The company's profit after tax increased to ₹300 crore from ₹288 crore during the corresponding period.

Eicher Motors said that VECV achieved its highest-ever first-quarter sales with 24,815 vehicles, compared with 21,610 vehicles sold in the same period last year.

Speaking about VECV's performance, B. Srinivas, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of VECV, said the company delivered its best-ever first-quarter results with sales growth of 14.8% year-on-year. He stated that VECV continued to strengthen its leadership position in the light and medium-duty truck segment while contributing towards the modernisation of India's commercial vehicle industry.

Alongside announcing its quarterly results, Eicher Motors' Board of Directors approved a major investment plan of ₹1,225 crore for the first phase of a greenfield expansion project in Andhra Pradesh. The expansion, once fully operational, will have the capacity to manufacture an additional 4.5 lakh motorcycles annually.

The company stated that the first phase of the Andhra Pradesh facility expansion is expected to be completed during FY2029-30, subject to market conditions and other necessary approvals.

Following the completion of Phase I of the greenfield expansion, Royal Enfield's total manufacturing capacity across all production facilities is expected to increase to approximately 24.5 lakh motorcycles per year.

In a regulatory filing, Eicher Motors revealed that its current production capacity stands at around 15 lakh motorcycles annually across its Oragadam and Vallam Vadagal plants in Tamil Nadu as of July 29, 2026.

The company also confirmed that a previously announced brownfield expansion project at its Cheyyar plant is currently underway and is expected to be completed by FY28. After completion of this expansion, the combined manufacturing capacity across the three Tamil Nadu facilities is expected to rise to nearly 20 lakh motorcycles annually.

On the stock market, shares of Eicher Motors closed at ₹7,779 per share on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) on Wednesday, declining 0.73%. According to NSE data, the company had a total market capitalisation of approximately ₹2.14 lakh crore as of July 29, 2026.

With record-breaking Royal Enfield sales, strong quarterly earnings, and aggressive manufacturing expansion plans, Eicher Motors is aiming to strengthen its position in both domestic and international automobile markets. The company's future growth strategy will focus on new product launches, electric mobility initiatives, and increasing production capacity to meet rising consumer demand.
