IIE DIGITAL DESK ; Mumbai, October 5: Shares of FSN E-Commerce Ventures, the parent company of Nykaa, jumped more than 4 per cent in Monday's trading session after the company released a strong business update for the second quarter of FY27. The update indicated healthy growth across both its Beauty and Fashion businesses, encouraging investors and triggering fresh buying interest in the stock.
FSN E-Commerce Ventures shares rose 4.12 per cent to Rs 338.35 on the NSE during morning trading. The stock's rally came after Nykaa indicated that its consolidated gross merchandise value, or GMV, is expected to grow in the high 20s during the September quarter. Consolidated net sales value, or NSV, is expected to grow in the early 30s, while consolidated net revenue growth is projected to remain in the high 20s.
The company's latest update suggests that Nykaa continues to maintain strong business momentum despite changes in the festive calendar. A larger portion of the festive season has shifted into the third quarter this year, which means some of the demand that would traditionally have contributed to the September quarter will now be reflected in Q3.
Despite this shift, the company has indicated healthy growth across both of its key business verticals. The Beauty business continues to expand steadily, while the Fashion vertical is gaining momentum as the company increases its scale, adds more brands and attracts new customers.
Nykaa's Beauty business is expected to report strong growth in the second quarter. The company expects Beauty NSV and net revenue growth to remain in the high 20s, reflecting continued demand for beauty and personal care products.
The Beauty segment remains the core strength of Nykaa's business. The company has continued to expand its physical retail presence while simultaneously strengthening its online platform. During the quarter, Nykaa added 14 new stores, taking its total store count to 338.
The company's same-store sales growth also remained encouraging. Like-for-like sales growth in the Beauty business was in the early 20s, marking the strongest performance in six quarters. This indicates that existing stores are continuing to generate healthy sales even as the company expands its retail network.
House of Nykaa, the company's private-label portfolio, also continued to perform strongly. The business grew faster than the overall Beauty segment, supported by healthy performance across both core and emerging brands.
The Fashion business emerged as one of the biggest growth drivers during the quarter. Nykaa expects Fashion NSV growth to be in the high 40s, while net revenue growth is expected to be in the early 40s. The strong performance reflects increasing customer acquisition, a wider brand portfolio and the continued scaling-up of the Fashion vertical.
The company added more than 250 brands to its Fashion platform during the quarter, further strengthening the range of products available to customers. The company's partnership with Nike has also started gaining traction, adding another important growth opportunity to the Fashion business.
The strong Fashion performance is particularly important for Nykaa because the company has been investing heavily in expanding this vertical. As the business gains scale, management expects the Fashion segment to make a larger contribution to overall growth and profitability.
The latest business update has been positively received by market analysts. JM Financial described the trends across Beauty, Personal Care and Fashion as excellent and noted that the company continued to show healthy top-line momentum. The stock also gained more than 5 per cent during Monday's session in some stages of trading.
Market participants are particularly encouraged by the fact that Nykaa managed to maintain strong growth even though the festive season timing was less favourable for the September quarter. With a larger share of the festive demand shifting into October and the December quarter, investors are now watching whether Q3 can deliver an even stronger performance.
The consolidated GMV growth is expected to remain close to 30 per cent, while NSV growth is expected to be higher in the early 30s. Consolidated net revenue growth is expected to remain in the high 20s, marking another quarter of strong expansion for the company.
The market's response also reflects growing confidence in Nykaa's ability to balance its established Beauty business with the faster-growing Fashion vertical. Beauty provides the company with a strong and relatively mature revenue base, while Fashion offers significant room for expansion as customer adoption increases.
The retail expansion strategy remains another important factor. With 338 stores now operating across the country, Nykaa is building an increasingly large physical footprint alongside its digital platform. The combination of online reach and offline stores allows the company to strengthen customer engagement and improve its ability to showcase beauty and lifestyle products.
The company's performance is also being watched closely because of the broader growth opportunity in India's beauty, personal care and fashion markets. Rising consumer spending, increased online shopping, premiumisation and growing interest in branded products have created favourable conditions for organised players such as Nykaa.
For investors, the latest Q2 update provides several positive signals. Strong GMV growth indicates healthy demand across the platform, while the early-30s NSV growth points to continued expansion in sales. The high-20s consolidated revenue growth also suggests that Nykaa is maintaining a strong pace of overall business expansion.
The same time, investors will be looking beyond headline growth numbers when the company's full financial results are released. Profit margins, operating expenses, customer acquisition costs, contribution from the Fashion business and profitability of the Beauty segment will remain important factors in determining the stock's longer-term trajectory.
The stock is also approaching its recent highs. Nykaa shares had reached a 52-week high of around Rs 349.55 on August 31, 2026. Monday's rally therefore brings the stock closer to that level, making the coming trading sessions important from a technical perspective.
A sustained move towards and above the previous high could further strengthen investor sentiment, particularly if the company's upcoming quarterly financial results confirm the strong business momentum indicated in the provisional update. However, any disappointment in margins or profitability could lead to increased volatility after the recent rise.
The market appears to be focusing on the positive side of the Q2 update. Strong Beauty performance, rapid Fashion growth, expanding retail operations and a healthy consolidated revenue outlook have combined to make Nykaa one of the stocks in focus in Monday's trading session.
The biggest takeaway for investors is that Nykaa's growth story is increasingly becoming a two-engine story. While Beauty continues to provide a stable foundation with strong same-store sales and expanding retail reach, Fashion is emerging as a faster-growing business with significant potential to contribute to the company's future expansion.
With the festive season now moving into the December quarter and the company entering a period of potentially stronger demand, investors will be watching closely to see whether the Q2 momentum carries forward into Q3. The upcoming financial results and management commentary could therefore provide further clarity on Nykaa's earnings outlook, margins and the sustainability of its growth trajectory.
The time being, the Q2 FY27 business update has given Nykaa shareholders a reason for optimism. The strong response in the stock market suggests that investors are increasingly confident about the company's ability to deliver sustained growth across Beauty and Fashion while continuing to expand its position in India's rapidly growing digital commerce and lifestyle market.
