Artists’ Forum Introduces Arunodoy Health Card to Support Artists During Emergencies

IIE DIGITAL: Accidents and health emergencies can occur unexpectedly during film and television shoots. Actors often face physical risks while working on sets and in some unfortunate cases sudden medical complications or accidents can lead to tragic consequences. Actor Rahul Arunoday Banerjee’s untimely death during the shooting of the television serial “Bhole Baba Par Karega” at Talsari remains one such heartbreaking incident.

With the aim of ensuring that no actor loses their life due to a lack of timely medical assistance, the Artists’ Forum has introduced a healthcare initiative named ‘Arunodoy Health Card’.

According to the organisation, the health card will provide medical support to actors who suffer accidents or serious health issues while shooting or working on set.

The announcement was made during the Artists’ Forum’s senior artists’ felicitation programme held on Sunday. The ‘Shraddhanjali’ event honoured several veteran actors including Sabitri Chattopadhyay, Mita Chattopadhyay, Chitra Sen, Sandhya Roy and Biplab Chattopadhyay along with other celebrated personalities from the industry. The programme also featured cultural performances by members of the organisation.

Following the event, the official announcement of the ‘Arunodoy Health Card’ was made as an effort to keep Rahul’s memory alive through a meaningful initiative.

Under this special healthcare scheme, actors who suffer from serious illnesses including neurological conditions or face accidents during shooting will receive medical assistance from a leading hospital.

The benefits will include hospital admission facilities, medical consultations, necessary treatments and immediate medical support on shooting locations whenever required. The card will also provide special discounts on healthcare services.

The initiative will extend beyond actors as their family members will also be eligible for medical benefits under this healthcare programme.

The Artists’ Forum has also stated that additional facilities and benefits may be added in the future to strengthen healthcare support for artists and their families.
