IIE Digital Desk: The CJP has alleged that the Delhi Police intentionally damaged a car to depict protesters as violent during their ongoing protest at Jantar Mantar, sparking recurrent controversy. Following recent clashes between protesters and security forces, the accusation has added to the already tense atmosphere.

After the protests, the CJP leaders claimed that a vehicle was brought to the location and used as refuel to indicate vandalism by protesters. The protesters  party spokesperson asserted that the car had already sustained extensive damage and was only placed near the demonstration site, with the intention of influencing public opinion against them.

Furthermore, the party alleged that officials were trying to shift attention away from allegations of police brutality during the demonstrations. The CJP leaders argued that the destruction of vehicles could be used to justify the police response and depict an unruly, destructive protest movement. However: Delhi Police strongly denies these allegations. Several vehicles and public properties were reported to have been damaged during confrontations between protesters and security forces, according to officials. CCTV footage and other digital evidence, such as footage captured by AI-equipped surveillance systems, are being analyzed by investigators to identify individuals believed to have committed violence or vandalism.

The demonstration commenced due to allegations of malpractice and paper leaks in competitive assessments. The protesters have demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, demanding accountability from his government. Repeated leaks of the examination have been blamed by protestors for putting lives at risk for thousands of students and job candidates across the country.

The Centre has announced plans to fast-track court proceedings and take tougher action against those caught up in examination fraud, but the demands made by protest leaders have been dismissed as 'absurd'. Political accountability and systemic changes are still being demanded by them to prevent similar incidents from happening again. The dispute over the damaged vehicle has heightened the political climate surrounding this demonstration further. Several opposition leaders have expressed doubts about the police's actions and demanded accountability for the protests. At the same time, officials have been instructed by the Delhi High Court to preserve CCTV footage and video recordings that pertain to the police operation, ensuring that all evidence is accessible for examination.

CJP leaders have vowed to maintain their sit-in at Jantar Mantar until the government can bring them together and meet their demands, despite efforts to engage with protesters and reduce tensions. The protest is still one of the most closely monitored political developments in the national capital, with questions arising over accountability, police power, and public trust.
