West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose Visits Malda Amid Post-Violence Relief Efforts

IIE DIGITAL DESK : West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose commenced a two-day visit to Malda and Murshidabad districts on April 18, 2025, to asses the aftermath of recent communal unrest. The violence, which erupted on April 11, resulted in three fatalities, numerous injuries, property damage.​ 

Ignoring advisories from the state government, Governor Bose traveled directly to Malda, arriving at the Malda Town Railway Station around noon. After a brief rest, he addressed the media, stating his intention to visit the relief camps housing displaced families in Parlalpur, Vaishnavnagar. These camps are currently accommodating individuals who fled their homes in Murshidabad due to the violence.

Governor Bose emphasized the importance of providing immediate assistance to the affected families, highlighting the state's commitment to restoring peace and normalcy. He refrained from commenting on the situation in Murshidabad, stating that he would assess the situation there at a later time .

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has also dispatched a team to the region to investigate the incidents and ensure that the rights of the affected individuals are upheld. The state government has pledged to cooperate fully with the NHRC's efforts.

Governor Bose's visit underscores the administration's dedication to addressing the challenges faced by the affected communities and restoring peace in the region.
