IIE DIGITAL DESK ;  August 28: Actor-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut has once again attracted attention with her forthright comments on politics, personal independence and her relationship with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Known for expressing strong and often controversial opinions both in the film industry and in public life, Ranaut said in a recent interview with Doordarshan that she does not consider herself a puppet and wants to retain the freedom to express her own views.

Ranaut’s political journey entered a new phase in 2024 when she was elected as a BJP Member of Parliament from the Mandi Lok Sabha constituency in Himachal Pradesh. Since then, her statements on a range of political and social issues have frequently generated public discussion. At the same time, questions have occasionally been raised over whether some of her outspoken remarks represent her personal position or the official stance of the BJP.

Speaking to Doordarshan, Ranaut addressed that distinction directly.
