IIE DIGITAL DESK ; Kolkata, June 29: The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB) has finally announced the schedule for the much-awaited counselling process for admission to engineering and technical courses across the state. The centralised online counselling registration for candidates who qualified in the WBJEE 2026 examination will commence from June 30, 2026, marking the beginning of the admission process for undergraduate engineering and technology programmes in West Bengal.

The Board, the complete counselling guidelines, detailed schedule and other important instructions will be published shortly on the official WBJEEB website. Eligible candidates will have to complete the entire registration process online, as no offline counselling facility will be available this year.

WBJEEB has clarified that the counselling process is open not only to candidates who have qualified through the WBJEE 2026 examination but also to those who have secured ranks in JEE Main 2026. However, a separate set of rules applies to JEE Main candidates regarding seat allocation.

Candidates qualifying through JEE Main will be eligible to compete only for the 10 percent approved seats available in self-financing or private engineering colleges in West Bengal. They will not be eligible for admission to any government engineering college in the state through their JEE Main rank.

For admission to engineering programmes, applicants must have successfully passed Class XII or its equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as compulsory subjects. Meeting the prescribed academic eligibility criteria remains mandatory for participation in the counselling process.

Candidates seeking admission to the Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch) programme must possess a valid score in either the National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) or JEE Main Paper 2, as specified by the Board. Without either of these qualifying scores, applicants will not be considered eligible for B.Arch admissions.

The Board has also issued detailed guidelines regarding the domicile policy. Candidates possessing a valid domicile certificate of West Bengal will be eligible for consideration under both the 85 percent State Quota and the 15 percent All India Quota seats.

The other hand, candidates from outside West Bengal will be eligible to apply only for seats available under the 15 percent All India Quota, as they are not entitled to claim benefits under the State Quota.

WBJEEB has further reiterated that no separate reservation for the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) will be available through this counselling process. Candidates are therefore advised to carefully read the official information bulletin and eligibility conditions before completing their registration.

The online counselling process set to begin on Tuesday, candidates are advised to keep all required academic documents, rank cards, certificates and other necessary records ready to ensure smooth registration. Aspirants are also encouraged to regularly monitor the official WBJEEB website for updates regarding counselling schedules, choice filling, seat allotment, document verification and subsequent admission procedures.
