IIE DIGITAL DESK : Kolkata, March 21: Trinamool Congress leader Abhishek Banerjee delivered a strong message of unity and communal harmony while addressing an Eid gathering at Red Road in Kolkata on Saturday. Emphasizing the importance of brotherhood, he asserted that Bengal’s long-standing tradition of harmony would remain intact despite attempts to create divisions.

Speaking at the event, which was also attended by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Abhishek Banerjee expressed concern over what he described as efforts to pit communities against each other. He warned that forces were trying to create rifts between people by encouraging conflict between different religious groups, but stressed that such attempts would not succeed in Bengal.

Highlighting the shared cultural and spiritual values across religions, Banerjee drew parallels between festivals, noting that the same moon that marks the celebration of Eid is also significant in other traditions such as Karva Chauth. He also referenced the spirit of Diwali to underline the deep-rooted connections between communities, reinforcing his message that unity must prevail over division.

Banerjee’s speech, though brief, carried a strong appeal for humanity, togetherness, and peace. He urged people from all backgrounds to stand united in the interest of humanity and preserve the social fabric of the state. According to him, Bengal’s identity lies in its inclusiveness, where people of different religions coexist with mutual respect.

The Eid celebration at Red Road reflected this spirit of unity, as people from diverse communities gathered to mark the festival with joy and solidarity. Banerjee concluded by reiterating that the harmony and brotherhood of Bengal must be protected at all costs, calling on citizens to remain united against any attempts to divide society.
