IIE DIGITAL DESK ; New Delhi, July 25: The recent student protests in the national capital have left Delhi tense, with authorities reporting injuries to a large number of police personnel and students following clashes between demonstrators and law enforcement agencies. According to the Delhi Police, at least 130 police personnel were injured during the protests, while 15 First Information Reports (FIRs) have been registered in connection with the violence.

In a statement issued on Saturday morning, Delhi Police said the injuries were sustained after protesters allegedly attacked security personnel deployed to maintain law and order during the demonstrations. The police added that legal proceedings have been initiated, and investigations into the incidents are currently underway.

The student protests, which have drawn significant public attention, also resulted in injuries to demonstrators. According to police officials, around 65 students were injured during the course of the agitation as confrontations broke out in different parts of the protest area.

Delhi Police further stated that nearly 10,000 people are currently present at Jantar Mantar and the surrounding areas, where the protests continue under heightened security arrangements. To ensure law and order, approximately 3,000 police personnel have been deployed across the protest site and nearby locations.

As part of enhanced security measures, the Delhi Police are using Facial Recognition System (FRS) cameras to monitor individuals entering the Jantar Mantar area. Officials said the technology is being used to identify persons with criminal backgrounds who may attempt to infiltrate the protest and create disturbances.

The police, more than 2,000 individuals with previous criminal records have so far been identified through the Facial Recognition System after they were found to have visited the Jantar Mantar protest site. Authorities said the identification process is continuing and that appropriate legal action will be taken wherever necessary.

The protests have significantly heightened security concerns in the capital, prompting authorities to strengthen surveillance and deploy additional personnel in sensitive areas. Police officials have maintained that all necessary measures are being taken to ensure public safety while allowing peaceful demonstrations within the framework of the law.

The situation in Delhi remains under close watch as law enforcement agencies continue to monitor developments, investigate the incidents of violence, and maintain a heavy security presence around Jantar Mantar and other key locations in the city.
