IIE DIGITAL DESK ; New Delhi, July 24: The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has announced that 17 metro stations across the national capital will remain closed to the public from 7:30 a.m. on Friday until further orders. The decision was communicated by the DMRC through an official announcement issued on Thursday night.

The DMRC, the temporary closure has been implemented as a precautionary measure, and the affected stations will remain inaccessible to passengers until fresh instructions are issued by the authorities. While trains may continue to pass through some of the stations, commuters will not be allowed to enter or exit at these locations during the period of closure.

The metro stations that will remain closed from Friday morning are Lok Kalyan Marg, Rajiv Chowk, Patel Chowk, Ramakrishna Ashram Marg, Barakhamba Road, Supreme Court, Seva Teerth, Janpath, Mandi House, Central Secretariat, ITO, Delhi Gate, Indraprastha, Khan Market, Jor Bagh, Shivaji Stadium, and Jhandewalan.

Despite the closures, the DMRC clarified that interchange facilities will continue to be available at Rajiv Chowk, Mandi House, and Central Secretariat metro stations. Passengers travelling through these stations will be able to change metro lines without exiting the station premises, ensuring connectivity across different corridors of the Delhi Metro network.

The metro operator has advised commuters to plan their journeys in advance and make use of alternative stations wherever possible to avoid inconvenience. Passengers have also been requested to follow official updates issued by the DMRC regarding the reopening of the affected stations and any further changes to metro operations.

The temporary closure of these key stations is expected to affect thousands of daily commuters, as several of them are located in central Delhi and serve important government offices, business districts, educational institutions, and tourist attractions. Authorities have stated that the restrictions will remain in force until further notice, with normal services to resume only after fresh directives are issued.

The DMRC has assured passengers that it will continue to provide timely updates through its official communication channels and has urged the public to cooperate with the temporary arrangements in the interest of public safety and smooth management of metro services.
