IIE Digital Desk: Following the catastrophic tunnel collapse at the NHPC Teesta Stage VI Hydroelectric Project in Sikkim, four workers from West Bengal have been brought back to their homes. The death toll has also increased as well. As rescue teams continue to search for missing people, the latest discoveries have deepened the grief of families throughout the state.

A suspected methane gas explosion caused a tunnel collapse earlier this week, leaving workers trapped inside, including those from West Bengal. The rescue team successfully retrieved their bodies from the wreckage after an intense operation that was exposed to hazardous substances, including toxic gases, waterlogging, and unstable debris.

An accident took place in the tunnel of NHPC Teesta Stage VI Hydroelectric Project, which is currently being built and located in Namchi district. 25 workers were inside the tunnel when it was partially submerged, resulting in those trapped underground. The explosion is thought to have caused an accident on Wednesday.
