SAFF Final on June 6: India Women to Face Bangladesh After 10 Years in Title Clash
IIE DIGITAL DESK ; New Delhi, June 4: The SAFF Championship final will be played on June 6 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Goa, where the Indian women’s team will face Bangladesh. India reached the final after defeating Bhutan 1–0 in the semi-final on Wednesday, while Bangladesh secured their place in the final by beating Nepal 2–1.
After a gap of 10 years, India and Bangladesh are once again set to meet in a SAFF final. The last time the two teams faced each other in the title clash was in the 2016 edition of the tournament.
In that final, India had registered a 3–1 victory over Bangladesh to lift the trophy.
It is also noteworthy that Bangladesh had already faced hosts India during the group stage of this tournament. In that encounter, India defeated Bangladesh 3–0, giving them a psychological edge ahead of the upcoming final.
