IIE DIGITAL DESK : May 7, 2026: Realme is preparing to expand its smartphone lineup in India with a new budget 5G device, the Realme 16x, which has now surfaced on the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification database, strongly indicating an imminent launch in the country.

The upcoming smartphone, believed to carry the model number RMX5270, has been listed on the BIS portal, a regulatory step that typically precedes official market introduction in India. While the certification does not reveal full specifications, it confirms that the device has cleared mandatory safety requirements, bringing it closer to launch.

According to industry reports and leaks, the Realme 16x is expected to succeed the Realme 15x and will likely be positioned as an entry-level to mid-range 5G offering within the Realme 16 series. The smartphone is expected to join other models in the lineup, including the Realme 16, 16 Pro, and 16 Pro+.

Early leaks suggest that the Realme 16x may come in two colour options, Endurance Brown and Glory White, and could be offered in multiple storage configurations including 4GB RAM with 128GB storage, 6GB RAM with 128GB storage, and 6GB RAM with 256GB storage. However, the company has not officially confirmed any of these details yet.

The Realme 16x is expected to continue the brand’s focus on budget-friendly 5G smartphones with improved performance and battery efficiency, following the trajectory of its predecessor, the Realme 15x, which was launched in India last year.

With BIS certification now in place, the Realme 16x is widely expected to debut in the Indian market in the coming weeks, although an official launch date has not yet been announced by the company.

Anticipation builds, more details regarding specifications, pricing, and availability are expected to emerge closer to the official unveiling.
