IIE DIGITAL DESK : Vivo has expanded its S-series smartphone lineup with the launch of the new Vivo S60t in China. The smartphone has arrived with a combination of a high-refresh-rate AMOLED display, a large 7,200mAh battery, a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera and support for 90W wired fast charging. The new handset is currently available in China in two RAM and storage configurations and comes in three colour options.

The Vivo S60t has been introduced as the latest member of the Vivo S60 family, joining the Vivo S60 and Vivo S60 Vitality Edition. The smartphone is currently being sold through Vivo's online store in China. The base variant with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage is priced at CNY 3,599, which is roughly equivalent to Rs 52,000. The higher-end model with 12GB RAM and 512GB storage carries a price tag of CNY 3,999, or approximately Rs 57,000.

The handset is available in Early Summer Green, Midsummer Night and Starry Sea colour options. At present, Vivo has announced availability for the Chinese market, while an official international launch has not been confirmed.

The Vivo S60t features a 6.59-inch AMOLED display with a Full-HD+ resolution of 1,260 x 2,750 pixels. The screen supports a refresh rate of up to 144Hz and offers a 300Hz touch sampling rate. The display also supports a wide DCI-P3 colour gamut and is capable of displaying 1.07 billion colours. The high refresh rate and fast touch response are expected to make the phone particularly appealing to users who consume multimedia content or play games on their smartphones.

Under the hood, the Vivo S60t is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 mobile platform. The smartphone comes with 12GB of RAM and offers up to 512GB of internal storage. Vivo has also included virtual memory expansion, allowing users to increase the effective memory capacity through memory fusion technology.

One of the biggest highlights of the Vivo S60t is its battery. The smartphone packs a massive 7,200mAh battery and supports 90W wired fast charging. The device also supports reverse charging, allowing it to be used to charge compatible accessories and other devices. The combination of a large battery and high-speed charging is likely to be one of the major selling points of the new Vivo smartphone.

The camera department is another major attraction. The Vivo S60t features a triple rear camera setup comprising a 50-megapixel primary camera with optical image stabilisation and autofocus, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera and a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera. The telephoto sensor supports up to 100x digital zoom, while the primary and telephoto cameras also support 4K video recording.

For selfies and video calls, the smartphone gets a 50-megapixel front-facing camera with autofocus. This gives the Vivo S60t a strong camera-focused profile, particularly for users who place importance on portrait photography, long-distance shots and high-resolution selfies.

On the software front, the Vivo S60t runs OriginOS 7 based on Android 17. The smartphone also comes with an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor for biometric security. Other features include stereo speakers, NFC, Bluetooth 5.4, Wi-Fi 6 and a USB Type-C port. The handset supports both 4G and 5G connectivity.

Durability has also received attention, with the phone carrying IP68 and IP69 ratings for protection against dust and water. The handset measures 157.52 x 74.33 x 7.92mm and weighs around 207 grams. Despite carrying a large 7,200mAh battery, the device maintains a relatively slim profile of under 8mm.

The Vivo S60t therefore brings together several features generally associated with more premium smartphones, including a 144Hz AMOLED display, a Snapdragon 7-series processor, a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera, a large-capacity battery and 90W fast charging. Its pricing in China places it in the upper-mid-range segment.

For Indian consumers, however, there is an important point to note. The Vivo S60t has been launched in China and Vivo has not officially confirmed its availability in India. Previous Vivo S-series models have largely remained limited to the Chinese market, so it remains unclear whether the S60t will eventually be introduced in India under the same name or as part of another Vivo series.

With its large battery, high-refresh-rate AMOLED panel and camera-focused hardware, the Vivo S60t is positioned as a feature-rich smartphone aimed at consumers looking for a combination of performance, photography and long battery life. The 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera and 7,200mAh battery are among the key features that could help the device stand out in the competitive premium mid-range smartphone segment.
