IIE DIGITAL: Actor Sonu Sood has criticized fellow actor and MP Kangana Ranaut over her controversial remarks targeting Gen Z amid the nationwide student protests led by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP). Kangana had referred to the younger generation as "Generation Gutter" and alleged that they glorify "drugs, drinks, and endless body counts," triggering widespread backlash from political leaders and the public.

Reacting to the controversy, Sonu said he had not personally heard Kangana's statement but stressed that actors should never distance themselves from their audience. "These young people are the ones who make actors, and they are the ones who help you reach this position. As long as they stand by you, you will continue to thrive. If they are not with you, it becomes difficult. That's why everyone should be taken along," he said while speaking to the media.

Highlighting the importance of public trust, Sonu added that every profession depends on people's support and acceptance. "Whether you are an actor, a doctor, or anything else, your existence has meaning only as long as people are connected with you," he said.

When informed about Kangana's "Generation Gutter" remark, Sonu strongly disapproved of the comment. "If she has said that, then I think it is very shameful. It should not have been said," he remarked.

The actor also urged public figures to choose their words carefully, saying, "There is a saying, 'Tol mol ke bol' (weigh your words before speaking). It is very important to think carefully before you speak because the public is another form of God."

The controversy began after Kangana shared a series of Instagram Stories criticizing Gen Z, particularly young women, accusing them of embracing a westernized lifestyle without taking responsibility. She claimed many were neither academically accomplished nor capable homemakers, while alleging they celebrated substance abuse, casual relationships, and financial dependence on their parents in the name of independence. Her remarks sparked criticism from several quarters, including CJP leaders, and have continued to fuel public debate.
