IIE DIGITAL DESK ; Rudraprayag, June 16: The Kedarnath pilgrimage is continuing smoothly, with more than 22 lakh devotees having visited the sacred Kedarnath temple so far. With the onset of the monsoon season, the administration has stepped up precautionary measures to ensure the safety of pilgrims.

Rudraprayag District Magistrate Vishal Mishra said that the yatra began smoothly on April 22 and has been progressing without major disruption. He noted that more than 12 lakh devotees have already visited the shrine so far, and the numbers continue to rise steadily.

The arrival of the monsoon and increasing rainfall activity, the administration is maintaining heightened vigilance. Special monitoring systems have been put in place to track vehicle movement, landslide-prone zones, and conditions around the Kedarnath temple through camera surveillance.

Authorities are closely observing sensitive areas to prevent any untoward incidents, especially as the region becomes vulnerable during heavy rains. Despite the weather challenges, the pilgrimage is continuing in an organised manner.

Officials have also appealed to pilgrims to continue their journey while strictly following safety guidelines. The administration has urged devotees to remain cautious and cooperate with the precautionary measures being implemented on the route to ensure a safe and smooth pilgrimage experience.
