IIE Digital Desk : The death of Srinjoy Dasgupta, the 26-year-old stepson of senior BJP leader Dilip Ghosh and son of Rinku Majumdar, has sparked controversy and allegations of harassment. Srinjoy, an IT professional, was found unconscious in his New Town residence on Tuesday morning and was declared dead upon arrival at a nearby private hospital.

While initial reports suggested a natural cause of death, with the autopsy indicating acute hemorrhagic pancreatitis, a social media post by a close friend of Rinku Majumdar has brought forth serious allegations against Srinjoy's girlfriend. The friend claimed that the girlfriend subjected Srinjoy to continuous harassment, including financial exploitation and emotional abuse.

According to the post, the girlfriend, employed in Kolkata's IT sector, allegedly relied on Srinjoy for daily expenses and often demanded money for transportation. She reportedly refused marriage proposals and continued to exert control over him. The friend further alleged that Rinku Majumdar was misled into believing that her son owed money to the girlfriend, leading to additional financial strain on Srinjoy.

These claims have been amplified by Trinamool Congress leader Kunal Ghosh, who shared the post and expressed condolences to the grieving family. He emphasized the need for empathy and condemned the online attacks directed at Rinku Majumdar following her son's death.

The circumstances surrounding Srinjoy's death remain under investigation. While the autopsy suggests no foul play, the emergence of these allegations has prompted authorities to consider all aspects of his personal life. The incident has also sparked discussions on mental health and the pressures faced by young professionals in personal relationships.
