The Alipore Meteorological Department, there is little possibility of significant relief from the heat until May 26. The weather office has forecast that from May 27 to May 29, the intensity of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and rainfall is expected to increase across several districts of South Bengal, bringing some much-needed respite from the oppressive weather conditions.
Meteorologists stated that there will be no major change in temperature over the next three days. The weather department further informed that there is very little possibility of rainfall in Kolkata and adjoining districts over the next 24 hours. However, weather conditions are expected to undergo a noticeable change after May 27 as thundercloud activity strengthens over the region. Rainfall along with gusty winds and lightning may affect several parts of South Bengal during this period.
North Bengal, the possibility of heavy rainfall still remains for the next few days. Weather officials indicated that rainfall activity in North Bengal may gradually reduce after May 27. Several districts in the northern part of the state have already been witnessing intermittent showers due to active weather systems over the region.

The unusually high night temperature has added to the discomfort, leaving residents exhausted even before the start of the day.
