IIE DIGITAL DESK ; Guwahati, July 31: Demonstrating its unwavering commitment to humanitarian service and public welfare, the Bharat Scouts and Guides of the Northeast Frontier (NF) Railway have launched a special relief initiative to assist families affected by the devastating floods in Assam. As part of the campaign, a dedicated flood relief collection and distribution booth was set up at the headquarters of the Northeast Frontier Railway in Maligaon from July 27 to July 31, enabling railway employees and volunteers to contribute essential relief materials for flood-hit communities.

The relief collection drive was formally inaugurated on July 27 by the Principal Chief Personnel Officer (PCPO) of the Northeast Frontier Railway in the presence of senior railway officials, employees, and members of the Bharat Scouts and Guides. The initiative witnessed an overwhelming response, with railway staff and volunteers enthusiastically participating in the campaign and generously donating essential relief supplies to support families affected by the floods.

Providing details of the initiative on Friday, Northeast Frontier Railway Chief Public Relations Officer Kapinjal Kishore Sharma said that the campaign extended beyond the collection of relief materials, with members of the Moriani District Branch of the NF Railway Bharat Scouts and Guides personally visiting flood-affected areas in the Sivasagar and Jorhat districts to distribute relief supplies among affected families.

According to Sharma, the volunteers reached out to flood victims with essential relief materials, offering timely assistance and moral support to people who had suffered immense hardship due to the floods. The volunteers actively coordinated with local residents and community representatives to ensure that the relief supplies reached those who were genuinely in need, making the distribution process transparent and effective.

He said that the initiative reflects the core values and guiding principles of the Scouts and Guides Movement, including selfless service, compassion, social responsibility, and dedication to the welfare of society. Through their active involvement, the volunteers demonstrated the spirit of humanity by standing beside distressed families during one of the most challenging periods caused by the floods.

The Northeast Frontier Railway stated that such humanitarian initiatives highlight the organization's continued commitment to supporting communities during natural disasters and emergencies. By mobilizing its employees, volunteers, and members of the Bharat Scouts and Guides, the railway has once again reinforced its role not only as a public transport provider but also as a socially responsible institution dedicated to serving people in times of crisis.
