Lionel Messi will continue to lead La Albiceleste in what could be another historic World Cup campaign for the South American giants.

Argentina enter the tournament carrying the expectations of millions after lifting the trophy in Qatar in 2022. The presence of veterans alongside emerging stars reflects Argentina’s long-term vision to maintain dominance at the highest level of international football.

The goalkeeping department will once again be led by Emiliano Martinez, whose heroic performances in Qatar made him a national icon. He will be supported by Geronimo Rulli and Juan Musso, providing depth and experience between the posts.

Argentina have retained the reliable partnership of Cristian Romero and Lisandro Martinez, while experienced campaigner Nicolas Otamendi continues to play a crucial leadership role at the back. Nahuel Molina, Gonzalo Montiel, Nicolas Tagliafico, Leonardo Balerdi, and Facundo Medina complete a defensive unit that combines aggression, composure, and versatility.

The midfield remains one of Argentina’s greatest strengths. Rodrigo De Paul, Alexis Mac Allister, Enzo Fernandez, and Leandro Paredes are expected to form the backbone of the team with their creativity, work rate, and tactical intelligence. Giovani Lo Celso, Exequiel Palacios, and talented youngster Valentin Barco add further depth and flexibility to the midfield setup.

In attack, Lionel Messi will once again carry the hopes of the nation alongside Lautaro Martinez and Julian Alvarez. The forward line also includes Nicolas Gonzalez, Giuliano Simeone, Nico Paz, Thiago Almada, and Jose Manuel Lopez, giving Argentina several attacking options capable of adapting to different styles of play.

Argentina have been placed in Group J for the World Cup. Their title defense campaign will begin on June 16 against Algeria in Kansas City, Missouri. Scaloni’s men will then face Austria on June 22 in Arlington, Texas, before concluding the group stage against Jordan on June 27 at the same venue.
