IIE DIGITAL DESK ;  May 9: The Arun Jaitley Stadium, Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Delhi Capitals by 8 wickets, registering their fourth consecutive win and strengthening their push in the playoff race.

Delhi Capitals, opting to bat first after losing the toss, struggled to build momentum against a disciplined KKR bowling attack. They were bowled out for 142 runs, with key contributions coming from Pathum Nissanka, who scored 50 runs, and Ashutosh Sharma, who added 39 runs to the total. However, consistent pressure from Kolkata’s bowlers restricted the innings throughout.

The KKR bowling unit delivered a tight performance, with Anukul Roy and Kartik Tyagi picking up two wickets each. Cameron Green, Sunil Narine, and Vaibhav Arora chipped in with one wicket apiece. Varun Chakravarthy bowled economically, conceding just 28 runs in his four-over spell, although he remained wicketless.

Chasing a modest target of 143, Kolkata got off to a flying start powered by a sensational innings from Finn Allen. The opener smashed a brilliant unbeaten 100 off just 47 balls, dismantling the Delhi bowling attack with aggressive stroke play. His explosive knock set the tone for the chase and effectively ended the contest early.

Supporting him, Cameron Green played a steady finishing role, remaining unbeaten on 33 runs as KKR comfortably reached 147 for 2 in just 14.2 overs, with 34 balls to spare.

The emphatic win highlighted Kolkata’s strong form, with both their bowling discipline and explosive batting making them serious contenders in the tournament’s playoff race.
