IPL Playoff Lineup Finalized
IIE DIGITAL DESK ; Indian Premier League, May 25: The playoff lineup for the 2025 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) has been officially finalized. The final spot in the playoffs was secured by Rajasthan Royals on May 24 after their victory over Mumbai Indians, bringing an end to the intense league-stage battles and setting the stage for the title race.
Qualification for the playoffs had already been confirmed by Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Gujarat Titans, and Sunrisers Hyderabad. With Rajasthan Royals’ win on Sunday, both Punjab Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders were officially eliminated from playoff contention.
Rajasthan Royals finished fourth on the points table with 16 points, while Punjab Kings ended with 15 points and Kolkata Knight Riders managed 13 points, making it impossible for them to qualify even with remaining matches. The league stage concluded with high drama, and attention has now shifted entirely to the knockout phase of the tournament.
The schedule, the first Qualifier will be played on May 26 between Gujarat Titans and Royal Challengers Bengaluru. This match will be crucial as the winner will directly advance to the final, taking a significant step toward the championship title.
The same day, the Eliminator will feature Rajasthan Royals against Sunrisers Hyderabad. This is a do-or-die encounter, where the losing team will be eliminated from the tournament, while the winner will keep their title hopes alive.
The next stage, the second Qualifier, will take place on May 29, featuring the loser of Qualifier 1 against the winner of the Eliminator. The victor of this match will secure a place in the grand final.
The IPL 2025 final is scheduled to be held on May 31 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. According to the schedule, Qualifier 1 will be played in Dharamshala, while the Eliminator will take place in New Chandigarh, followed by the second Qualifier at the same venue.
With the league phase now complete, the focus shifts to high-pressure knockout games where every match will determine who advances closer to lifting the IPL trophy.
