IIE DIGITAL DESK : Kolkata Knight Riders, May 25: The IPL campaign of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) came to an end after a disappointing defeat against Delhi Capitals in their final match. The team, which had a poor season overall, once again failed to deliver a strong finish as they were beaten by 40 runs on Sunday.

Last season, KKR had finished in eighth position, and this year the situation did not improve as they struggled throughout the tournament. Under the leadership of Ajinkya Rahane, the team endured a tough run, going six consecutive matches without a win and eventually slipping to seventh place in the points table.

The final encounter, Delhi Capitals posted a strong total of 203 for 5. Key contributions came from KL Rahul, who scored 60 runs, and Axar Patel, who added 39 runs. For KKR, Harshit Rana picked up 2 wickets for 28 runs.

Chasing a target of 204, Kolkata Knight Riders managed to score only 163 runs for the loss of all 10 wickets. Captain Ajinkya Rahane played a fighting knock of 63 runs, while Manish Pandey contributed 25 runs. However, the batting lineup collapsed under pressure as Kuldeep Yadav impressed with the ball, taking 3 wickets for 23 runs.

The defeat marked the end of a disappointing season for KKR, who failed to maintain consistency throughout the tournament. Despite individual performances from key players, the team struggled with both batting depth and bowling execution, leading to another underwhelming finish in the IPL standings.
