IIE DIGITAL DESK : The midst of a stellar Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season, Punjab Kings' opener Prabhsimran Singh is delivering match-winning performances on the field, even as his family grapples with a profound personal challenge off it. His father, Sardar Surjit Singh, is battling kidney failure and undergoes dialysis three times a week. Despite his health struggles, Surjit finds solace and happiness in watching his son's explosive batting displays.

Prabhsimran's recent innings of 91 runs off 48 balls against Lucknow Super Giants not only propelled Punjab Kings to a significant victory but also brought a rare smile to his father's face. According to Prabhsimran's uncle, Satwinderpal Singh, "The only time he smiles these days is when he sees Prabhsimran bat in the IPL." He added that before every match, he carries Surjit to the living room so they can watch together, and Surjit forgets his pain during those moments.

Despite his condition, Surjit remains an engaged and critical viewer. After Prabhsimran's near-century, he reportedly scolded his son for throwing away his wicket, demonstrating the family's deep-rooted cricketing passion and high expectations.

Prabhsimran's performances have been a beacon of hope for his family during these trying times. With 437 runs in 11 innings at a strike rate of 170, he is currently the leading run-scorer for Punjab Kings, playing a crucial role in their campaign.

The Singh family's story is a poignant reminder of the personal battles that often lie behind public triumphs. As Prabhsimran continues to shine on the cricketing stage, his father's unwavering support and resilience remain a testament to the strength of familial bonds.
