IIE DIGITAL DESK : The upcoming Xiaomi Mix Fold 5 has reportedly appeared in a new regulatory listing in China, suggesting that the company is moving closer to launching its next-generation foldable smartphone. The device is said to have passed certification from China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), indicating that its official debut could take place soon.

According to leaks circulating on Weibo, a Xiaomi smartphone with the model number 2608BPX34 has been spotted in the MIIT database. This model is widely believed to correspond to the Xiaomi Mix Fold 5. The listing also reveals support for 5G connectivity as well as Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology, pointing toward a premium flagship-grade foldable device.

The leak further suggests that the Xiaomi Mix Fold 5 may run the latest HyperOS 4 software out of the box. HyperOS 4 is expected to be Xiaomi’s next major operating system upgrade, likely based on Android 17, and is rumored to bring deeper AI integration across system apps, improved multitasking, and enhanced performance optimizations for foldable devices.

Another major highlight from the leaks is the possibility that the Mix Fold 5 could be powered by Xiaomi’s in-house Xring O3 chipset. This would mark a significant step in Xiaomi’s effort to reduce dependency on third-party chipmakers and strengthen its internal hardware ecosystem.

Early reports also indicate that the device may focus heavily on AI-driven features, especially for productivity use on its large foldable display. System apps such as Notes, Gallery, File Manager, Recorder, and Calendar are expected to receive AI-based enhancements under HyperOS 4.

While Xiaomi has not officially confirmed any of these details, multiple tipsters on Chinese social media platforms like Weibo have independently backed similar claims. The phone is expected to succeed the Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 and could launch later this year or in early 2026, depending on development progress.

As of now, all information remains based on leaks and certification listings, and the final specifications and launch timeline may differ at the time of official announcement.
