IIE Digital Desk: During the period of a three-day visit to West Bengal on Friday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived to discuss key issues related to border security, law and order, as well as the implementation of major policy initiatives. The visit involves holding meetings with senior officials, inspecting security facilities, and discussing the progress of recently implemented criminal legislation. Additionally, there will be discussions about various topics.

At the Jumagach Border Outpost near Siliguri, Shah's initial encounter will involve with BSF personnel stationed at the India-Bangladesh border. Additionally, he will meet with officials from China and India. In addition, he is expected to open and lay the groundwork for various initiatives aimed at improving infrastructure as well as welfare facilities for border security personnel.

The tour will center on a high-level examination of border management in West Bengal. The BSF, along with other key authorities, will hold talks involving senior officials and discussions on improving surveillance, strengthening coordination, and resolving issues related to illegal infiltration and cross-border smuggling. During the review, it will also assess the effectiveness of current security measures along the international border. The Home Minister is also anticipated to evaluate how the country's new criminal laws, such as BNS, BNSS, and BSA, are being implemented. Additionally, there will be no discussions with MPs on accountability. He will be briefed by officials on progress, readiness at all levels, and any issues encountered during the transition to the new legal system.

In addition, Shah will be traveling to Kolkata to attend a comprehensive meeting on the state's law and order issues. The discussions are expected to address issues of crime control, policing strategies, internal security, and state-wide coordination. ".
