Mourning in Arambagh’s Shitalpur as CRPF Jawan’s Body Returns Home

IIE DIGITAL DESK; Hooghly, May 26:  Shitalpur village in Arambagh, Hooghly district, after the untimely death of CRPF jawan Rakesh Roy, who was posted in Odisha. The atmosphere in the village turned emotionally charged on Tuesday as his mortal remains were brought back home, drawing a large gathering of grieving relatives, neighbours and local residents.

The 23-year-old Rakesh Roy, a resident of Shitalpur village under Arandi region of Arambagh, was serving in the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). Reports confirm that he died while on active duty. As news of his death reached the village, it created an atmosphere of profound grief among family members and villagers alike.

When his body arrived in the village on Tuesday, hundreds of people gathered for a final glimpse of their beloved son of the soil. Family members broke down in tears, while even local residents struggled to hold back their emotions. Representatives of various social and political organisations also visited the village to pay their last respects to the deceased jawan.

Locals described Rakesh as a bright, disciplined, and hardworking young man since childhood. His dedication to serving the nation had made him a source of pride for the entire village. His untimely demise has been described as an irreparable loss not only for his family but for the entire community.

Villagers have extended their support to the bereaved family and urged the government to provide necessary assistance. Preparations were also made for his last rites with full state honours, as Shitalpur bid an emotional farewell to its brave son, leaving the entire region under a blanket of grief and mourning.
