The Jagannath Dham, situated near Digha, was officially opened to the public earlier this month and has quickly become a focal point for both spiritual seekers and curious tourists. The temple’s magnificent architecture, serene ambiance, and the aura of devotion have combined to create a magnetic pull, drawing pilgrims not just from West Bengal, but also from neighboring states like Odisha, Jharkhand, and Bihar.

Local authorities and tourism officials have reported that hotel occupancy in Digha has reached record levels, with most accommodations fully booked for days in advance. Restaurants and local businesses are also benefitting from the increase in footfall, with many vendors reporting nearly double their usual sales.

Transport services to and from Digha have ramped up operations to meet the growing demand. Special trains and buses have been introduced, and traffic on the roads leading to Digha has surged considerably. Railway officials have added extra coaches to popular trains and extended services to cater to the flood of travelers.

According to tourism department estimates, this sudden rise in footfall has injected crores of rupees into the local economy.
