IIE DIGITAL DESK : Mumbai: After a period of market turbulence, investors breathed a sigh of relief on Monday as India’s stock markets rebounded sharply. Both the Nifty 50 and Sensex saw significant gains, fueled by late-session buying enthusiasm and renewed investor confidence. The Nifty 50 rose 1.11%, gaining 257 points to close at 23,408, while the Sensex jumped 1.25%, adding 939 points to surpass the 75,500 mark. Despite these gains, small-cap and mid-cap indices faced modest declines during the session.

Market analysts attribute the surge to increased buying in heavyweight stocks, particularly HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Reliance Industries, and State Bank of India (SBI). After a recent market slump, the shares of these major companies became attractive entry points for investors seeking value, prompting robust end-of-day purchases. Sector-wise, the auto, banking, and FMCG segments witnessed strong buying, driving the overall benchmark indices upward.

Experts also noted that the market’s future trajectory may depend on developments in the Hormuz Strait region, as any easing of supply chain issues could further boost investor sentiment. However, high crude oil prices continue to pose a potential risk, maintaining pressure on market valuations. Monday’s rally reflects cautious optimism as investors respond to favorable valuations and seek opportunities in established, blue-chip stocks, signaling a potential stabilizing trend after recent market volatility.
