IIE DIGITAL DESK : Shah Rukh Khan’s much-anticipated film King has found itself at the centre of a growing controversy after alleged leaks and AI-generated content surrounding the project began circulating online, prompting the makers to tighten security on the film’s sets.

Directed by Siddharth Anand, the big-budget action entertainer has been generating massive buzz ever since its announcement, largely due to its star-studded cast featuring Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone and Abhishek Bachchan. The excitement surrounding the film has consistently kept it in the spotlight, with fans closely tracking every update related to its production.

The situation escalated after portions of the shoot reportedly leaked from the film’s South Africa schedule, showing glimpses of key scenes and character appearances. These visuals quickly went viral on social media, triggering intense speculation among fans. Some of the leaked footage even showed Shah Rukh Khan in action sequences alongside Deepika Padukone, while Abhishek Bachchan was seen in a rugged, high-energy avatar.

What further complicated matters was the emergence of an AI-generated fan-made video that reportedly recreated a 15-minute sequence speculated to resemble the film’s climax. The clip spread rapidly online, blurring the line between authentic content and artificial recreations, and fueling confusion among audiences about what might actually be part of the film.

The production team has reportedly increased security measures at the ongoing Mumbai shoot to prevent any further leaks. Strict protocols have been put in place to ensure that no images, videos, or character reveals make their way outside the set before official release.

The issue has also drawn a strong reaction from director Siddharth Anand, who took to social media to appeal to fans to refrain from sharing leaked content. He urged audiences to preserve the cinematic experience intended by the team and requested viewers to wait for official reveals instead of circulating unauthorised visuals. He emphasised the extensive effort being put into crafting a large-scale theatrical experience and encouraged fans to support the film by maintaining secrecy around its production.

The controversy highlights the growing challenge filmmakers face in the era of artificial intelligence, where fan-made content and digitally manipulated clips can easily go viral and potentially spoil key elements of high-profile releases like King.
