IIE DIGITAL DESK :  May 9, 2025 — Singer Pawandeep Rajan, winner of Indian Idol Season 12 and one of the most beloved voices in the country, has been moved out of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) days after surviving a major road accident near Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh. The 28-year-old singer, who had suffered multiple injuries in the crash, is now said to be in stable condition and is recovering under close observation in a private hospital in Noida.

The accident occurred on May 5 while Pawandeep was travelling to Delhi to catch a flight for a concert in Ahmedabad. The SUV in which he was travelling reportedly collided with a stationary canter truck on the highway near Moradabad. Pawandeep, along with his manager and the driver, sustained injuries in the accident. The singer was immediately rushed to a local hospital, before being shifted to a super-specialty facility in Noida for advanced care.

Hospital sources revealed that Pawandeep had suffered fractures in his leg, head, and shoulder. A six-hour-long surgery was conducted the next day to treat critical fractures. Post-operation, he was kept in the ICU under 24-hour monitoring to stabilize his vitals and ensure no internal bleeding or complications emerged. Doctors have indicated that although he is now out of danger, he will require another surgery after a few days to address other injuries.

The news of Pawandeep’s accident shocked fans and the entertainment industry alike. Messages of support and prayers for his speedy recovery flooded social media. Fellow musicians, Indian Idol judges, and contestants from previous seasons shared their concern and sent their best wishes. Fans trended hashtags like #PrayForPawandeep and #GetWellSoonPawan on Twitter and Instagram.

Offering a moment of relief, Pawandeep’s close friend and singer, Govind Digari, posted an image on Instagram showing the singer smiling faintly from his hospital bed. The caption read, “Aap sabhi ke aashirwad se Pawan ab kaafi theek hai,” meaning, “With all your blessings, Pawan is now doing much better.” This single photo calmed the nerves of millions who had been anxiously waiting for an update on his health.

Pawandeep’s family has been by his side throughout, thanking doctors and fans for their unwavering support. In a brief statement, his parents said, “We are grateful to everyone praying for our son’s recovery. The doctors are doing everything possible, and with everyone’s blessings, he will soon be back on his feet.”

A native of Champawat in Uttarakhand, Pawandeep Rajan gained national fame when he won the twelfth season of Indian Idol in 2021. Known for his versatility and classical training, he has performed extensively across India and abroad. His melodic voice and humble nature have made him a household name. Post-Indian Idol, he released multiple singles and was frequently seen performing live at concerts and music festivals.

With a long recovery period ahead, it’s uncertain when Pawandeep will be able to resume his singing engagements. However, his team has stated that all upcoming shows have been postponed until further notice, and his health remains the top priority.
