IIE DIGITAL DESK : Kolkata, March 21: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday launched a sharp attack over the issue of alleged deletions in the SIR, asserting that her government would continue its fight to protect people’s rights at all costs. Speaking at an Eid celebration on Red Road in Kolkata, the Chief Minister claimed that many names had been removed from the SIR and assured the public that she would stand firmly by those affected.

Addressing a large gathering amid rain, Banerjee described the weather as a symbolic blessing, saying it reflected divine support for her ongoing struggle. She emphasized that her commitment extends to people of all religions, communities, and backgrounds, reiterating that her government remains inclusive and determined to safeguard every citizen’s rights.

Highlighting her efforts on the issue, Banerjee stated that she had taken the matter from Kolkata to New Delhi and pursued legal recourse from the Calcutta High Court to the Supreme Court of India. She expressed hope that justice would prevail and that the rights of the people would ultimately be protected.

Banerjee also targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing the central leadership of attempting to undermine the rights of the people. She asserted that her administration would not allow any such attempts to succeed and warned against what she described as efforts to control the state government or impose central rule.

The Chief Minister declared that her fight would continue relentlessly, underscoring her resolve to defend democratic rights and stand beside the people of West Bengal in the face of political and administrative challenges.
