IIE DIGITAL DESK; Kolkata, June 1: Rainfall has decreased across Kolkata and several other parts of South Bengal, and meteorologists have indicated that temperatures are likely to rise once again in the coming days. As a result, residents may experience an increase in heat and humidity, bringing back the discomfort associated with muggy weather conditions. However, scattered light rainfall may still occur in a few districts of South Bengal over the next 24 hours.

The latest weather outlook, although isolated light showers are possible in some areas, no specific warning has been issued regarding thunderstorms or significant rainfall activity. The weather is expected to remain largely stable, with rainfall gradually reducing across the region.

Meteorologists have indicated that temperatures in South Bengal will begin rising steadily. While there is unlikely to be any significant change in temperature during the next 24 hours, the mercury is expected to climb by two to three degrees Celsius thereafter. The rise in temperature could persist for at least the following five days, leading to warmer and more humid conditions across Kolkata and neighboring districts.

The return of higher temperatures is also expected to increase humidity levels, resulting in greater discomfort for residents. The combination of heat and moisture in the atmosphere is likely to make outdoor conditions feel warmer than the actual temperature, particularly during the daytime hours.

North Bengal is also not expected to receive any heavy rainfall in the immediate future. Weather officials have stated that there is currently no forecast of widespread or intense precipitation across the northern districts of the state.

Monday morning, Kolkata recorded a minimum temperature of 28.0 degrees Celsius, which was 0.2 degrees above the seasonal normal. The reading reflects the gradual warming trend that is expected to continue over the coming days as rainfall activity weakens and atmospheric conditions become more favorable for rising temperatures.

With rain easing across much of South Bengal and temperatures forecast to increase steadily, residents of Kolkata and surrounding areas are likely to face a return of hot and humid weather conditions throughout the week.
