Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Has Been Hijacked: Ritabrata Banerjee
IIE DIGITAL DESK : Ritabrata Banerjee launched a series of attacks against Abhishek Banerjee. At the same time, he also vented his anger at IPAC. On Tuesday, outside the Legislative Assembly, Ritabrata spoke to reporters, raising one allegation after another. According to him, the entire party has been hijacked by an organization (IPAC). He alleged that despite raising concerns about corruption from day one, nothing was done.
Monday, the party expelled Uluberia East MLA Ritabrata Banerjee and Antali MLA Sandipan Saha for anti-party activities. Following this, they have been continuously criticizing the party with one bombshell after another.
The same day, targeting Abhishek, Ritabrata said, “Whether it is mob attack or thievery, 26 days later you say the people will provide security. If the people are supposed to provide security, why does he need to ask for central security? I should not be made to listen to slogans like ‘thief, thief.’”
Ritabrata alleged that Uluberia Municipality is a hub of corruption. He stated that he had raised the issue with IPAC. According to him, the chairman of Uluberia Municipality, Abhoy Das, has been reported to be the ‘king of corruption.’ Ritabrata said, “I was told that action would be taken against Abhoy Das and others. I was advised not to speak about Pulak Roy. I was asked to request the government to investigate the matters. There was a major nexus functioning. Who was behind it needs investigation. The entire party, and their whole government, has been hijacked.”
Following Ritabrata’s rebellion, Trinamool’s boat seems to be wobbling. Speculations about Mamata Banerjee’s party have intensified in Bengal politics. When asked whether Ritabrata is emerging as a significant force within the party, he said, “I cannot jointly take responsibility with anyone except Sandipan and myself.”
Tapas Roy, standing outside the Assembly, said, “Trinamool has broken down and shattered. It is a pitiable situation. The party has split into two factions. In fact, this was inevitable. It was bound to happen.”
