IIE DIGITAL DESK ; Kolkata, June 4: The large number of local train services will remain cancelled in the Sealdah North and South sections from Saturday night to Sunday afternoon due to bridge girder replacement work and point maintenance activities by the railways.

Railway officials, train operations will be suspended on both Up and Down lines near the 3rd railway bridge at Kankurgachi on the Sealdah North and Main sections for girder replacement work. The disruption will be in effect from 10:15 PM on Saturday until 1:15 PM on Sunday, affecting train movement across multiple routes.

Train services from the Narkeldanga car shed will remain suspended from 7:00 PM on Saturday to 4:00 PM on Sunday. Due to this combined maintenance work, more than a hundred local trains across the Sealdah North, Main, and Dankuni sections are expected to be cancelled.

Schedule of maintenance work, point repairing activity at Ballygunge station will also affect services. Local train movement will remain suspended there from 11:10 PM on Saturday to 5:10 AM on Sunday.

Railways have stated that these maintenance works are necessary for infrastructure safety and smoother train operations in the long run, although passengers are likely to face temporary inconvenience due to the large-scale cancellations.
