Intermittent showers are expected to be common in the next few days, with amounts ranging from light rain to heavy rainfall. During the afternoon and evening, there may be thunderstorms with lightning and strong winds. Residents have been urged by authorities to stay indoors during severe weather and avoid unnecessary travel.

The yellow alert signifies the likelihood of weather-related disruptions, such as waterlogging in low-lying areas, traffic jamming, and reduced road visibility. Certain parts of the city have a tendency to flood temporarily, which could impact daily commuting and public transportation services due to persistent rainfall patterns.

Active monsoon conditions over eastern India are anticipated to trigger the expected rainfall according to meteorologists.. Winds laden with moisture from the Bay of Bengal are strengthening weather systems across much of West Bengal, making rain and thunderstorms very likely. Why?
