
IIE DIGITAL DESK : Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari is heading to Delhi on a quick visit. On Monday, 35 MLAs were sworn in as ministers under his leadership. Their department allocations have not yet been finalized. Amid speculations over who will get which department, the Chief Minister is flying to Delhi today, Tuesday. Reports suggest that he may hold meetings with several central leaders, including BJP National President Nitin Nabin and Home Minister Amit Shah. Department allocation is also expected to be discussed. In addition, Suvendu Adhikari is reportedly scheduled to attend a special meeting in the capital, though the agenda of that meeting has not been disclosed yet.
Today, Tuesday, the Chief Minister has multiple engagements. In the morning, he will visit the Salt Lake BJP office for the ‘Janatar Darbar’ program. Following that, he will go to Tarakeshwar, where he will offer prayers at the temple and attend an administrative meeting. Additionally, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Bengal on the 20th of this month. Alongside several other programs, a meeting may also be held in Tarakeshwar, which the Chief Minister may discuss with administrative officials. He is expected to inspect the venue before heading directly to Kolkata Airport and flying to Delhi.
It is noteworthy that in the state Assembly elections held on May 4, the BJP formed the government by winning 208 out of 294 seats. On May 9, at the Brigade Parade Ground, Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari and four other ministers took oath in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. On that day, besides Suvendu, various departments were assigned to Dilip Ghosh, Agnimitra Paul, Ashok Kirtaniya, Khudiram Tudu, and Nishith Pramanik. On Monday, 35 new ministers were sworn in, increasing the total number of cabinet members to forty. Among them, 13 are full ministers, 3 are ministers of independent charge, and 19 are ministers of state. Additionally, 3 ministers will have independent charge. All ministers took the oath administered by Governor A.N. Ravi. Though department allocations were supposed to be announced on Monday afternoon, they were not finalized. In this context, Suvendu’s Delhi visit is considered highly significant.
