IIE DIGITAL: Shilpa Shetty, known for her fitness-focused lifestyle, believes that healthy eating does not mean compromising on taste. The actress often includes nutritious yet flavourful dishes in her diet and recently shared a special chicken recipe that brings together health and traditional Indian flavours.

The Bollywood star prepared a unique jeera chicken without using any cooking oil. Instead, she used ghee to add richness and texture to the dish. However, the main attraction of the recipe is roasted cumin, which gives the chicken its distinct aroma and authentic taste.

To prepare this dish: 500 grams of chicken, one large chopped onion, five tablespoons of ghee, one tablespoon of whole cumin seeds, one tablespoon of ginger paste, black pepper, lemon juice, turmeric powder, dry chilli powder, garam masala, coriander powder, sea salt, coriander leaves and green chillies are required.

The cooking process begins by dry roasting the cumin seeds in a pan until they release their strong aroma. This roasted cumin is the key ingredient that defines the flavour of the dish. After that, ghee is heated in a pan and chopped onions are cooked until they turn golden brown. The roasted cumin is then added along with ginger paste, turmeric powder, garam masala, coriander powder and green chillies.

The spices are cooked well until they develop a rich flavour. Once the masala starts releasing its aroma, chicken pieces are added and mixed thoroughly so that they absorb the taste of the spices. Cooking the chicken on medium heat allows the flavours to blend perfectly.

After this, salt, black pepper and dry chilli powder are added, and the chicken is covered and cooked slowly. The chicken releases its own moisture, which helps it become tender while soaking up the flavours of the spices. Stirring occasionally ensures that the masala coats the chicken evenly.

Once the chicken is completely cooked and the moisture reduces, the dish is finished with a splash of lemon juice and a garnish of fresh coriander leaves. Served hot, this jeera chicken makes for a delicious and wholesome meal.

Hence, Shilpa Shetty’s recipe proves that healthy food can be equally enjoyable and satisfying. With the goodness of protein-rich chicken, aromatic spices and the earthy flavour of roasted cumin, this dish offers a perfect balance of nutrition and taste.
