IIE DIGITAL DESK ; Kolkata, June 16: The upcoming International Yoga Day programme at Red Road, Minister Dilip Ghosh said that everything being done is in public interest. He addressed reporters on Tuesday morning and responded to several questions on various issues.

When asked about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Yoga Day programme scheduled for June 21, Dilip Ghosh said that for many years, Namaz was performed at Red Road and there are several mosques in the area. He added that now when the Prime Minister is visiting, questions are being raised about the event.

The Prime Minister should ideally be organised in places where public movement is limited. According to him, if the event were held in another field, surrounding areas would have to be closed off due to security arrangements. He reiterated that whatever is being done is in public interest and said that those raising objections should learn to stay within the boundaries of law.

Reacting to questions about Trinamool Congress leader Abhishek Banerjee, Dilip Ghosh said that investigations have begun and it remains to be seen how far they proceed. He added that Banerjee’s name has come up in several cases in the past as well.
