The Indian Embassy in Doha confirmed the details on Monday night, describing the explosion as one of the deadliest industrial accidents involving Indian workers in the Gulf region in recent years.

The information released by the embassy, a total of 13 people lost their lives in the blast, including 12 Indian citizens and one Pakistani national. In addition, 66 people sustained injuries of varying degrees. Officials have stated that all those who were injured are currently in stable condition and are receiving medical treatment at hospitals in Qatar.

The explosion occurred at the Ras Laffan Industrial City, one of Qatar’s most important energy and gas-processing hubs. The External Affairs Minister stated that the Government of India was deeply saddened by the deaths and injuries caused by the explosion, particularly because several Indian nationals were among those affected. He noted that the Indian Embassy in Doha has remained in constant contact with Qatari authorities since details of the incident emerged and is actively coordinating efforts to assist those impacted by the tragedy.

Jaishankar further emphasized that the embassy is working to provide all necessary support to the families of the deceased and injured Indian citizens. He assured that Indian diplomatic officials in Qatar are closely following developments and are extending assistance wherever required during this difficult period.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the affected individuals and their families,” the minister said, expressing solidarity with those who have suffered losses as a result of the disaster. His statement reflected the concern of the Indian government for the welfare of Indian nationals living and working abroad, particularly in the Gulf region, where a large expatriate workforce is employed across various sectors.

The Indian Embassy in Doha has also initiated measures to assist relatives of the victims and facilitate communication between affected families and local authorities.
