IIE DIGITAL: Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi arrived at Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun to take part in the ‘Chhatron Ki Goonj’ programme, where he is set to interact with students and highlight concerns related to education and examinations.

Rahul Gandhi received a warm welcome from Congress workers at the airport before leaving for the event venue at Bannu School Ground. The programme is part of his nationwide student outreach campaign focusing on issues faced by young people. Ahead of his visit, Gandhi said Uttarakhand was chosen for the campaign due to concerns surrounding alleged examination irregularities in the state. He raised questions over paper leak cases and the challenges faced by students preparing for competitive examinations.

Targeting the Uttarakhand government, Gandhi alleged that recruitment examinations had been affected by irregularities and claimed that students were losing faith in the system. He also criticised the implementation of anti cheating measures, saying stronger action was needed to protect merit based opportunities. The controversy surrounding the Uttarakhand Subordinate Services Selection Commission recruitment examination had earlier led to the cancellation of the Graduate Level Recruitment Exam after allegations of a paper leak. A government appointed inquiry panel later submitted its interim findings on the issue.

The ‘Chhatron Ki Goonj’ campaign was launched by Rahul Gandhi in Kota, Rajasthan, with the aim of addressing student concerns and discussing challenges within the education system. The Dehradun programme marks the campaign’s reach in Uttarakhand.
