IIE DIGITAL DESK ; Mumbai, June 29: Continuous monsoon showers have transformed the weather in India's financial capital, Mumbai, with heavy rainfall bringing much-needed relief from the heat while also causing waterlogging and traffic disruptions in several parts of the city. Since the arrival of the southwest monsoon, Mumbai has been witnessing persistent spells of rain, and Monday was no exception as heavy showers continued from the early hours of the morning.

Rain began before dawn and continued through the morning, covering almost every part of the city. Areas including the Mumbai Coastal Road, Parel, Sion, Andheri and several other localities experienced steady to heavy rainfall, creating a cool and pleasant atmosphere across the metropolis.

The rainfall improved weather conditions, it also caused inconvenience to commuters. The Andheri subway, which is prone to waterlogging during intense monsoon showers, was once again inundated, affecting the movement of vehicles and slowing traffic in the area. Authorities monitored the situation as motorists navigated through waterlogged stretches.

The impact of the heavy rain was also felt in neighbouring Navi Mumbai, where several areas, including Vashi, witnessed significant water accumulation. Flooded roads created difficulties for commuters and disrupted the smooth flow of traffic during the morning hours.

Apart from Andheri and Vashi, many other parts of Mumbai also reported waterlogging following the intense downpour. Roads in several low-lying areas were submerged, leading to temporary traffic congestion and delays in vehicular movement. Civic authorities remained on alert to address drainage issues and ensure that normalcy could be restored as quickly as possible.

Kandivali also experienced light to moderate rainfall, adding to the widespread monsoon activity across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. Despite the inconvenience caused by waterlogged roads and slow-moving traffic, residents welcomed the refreshing weather that accompanied the rain, with temperatures dropping noticeably and overcast skies creating a pleasant atmosphere throughout the city.

The latest spell of monsoon rain once again highlighted both the beauty and the challenges of the rainy season in Mumbai. While the showers brought cooler temperatures and a welcome change in weather, they also underscored the city's recurring struggle with urban flooding and traffic disruptions during periods of heavy rainfall. Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely as the monsoon remains active over the region.
