IIE DIGITAL DESK : Uttar Pradesh’s growing global ambitions, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has returned from Singapore and Japan with investment commitments worth nearly ₹1.5 lakh crore, along with proposals amounting to an additional ₹2.5 lakh crore. The high profile visit is being described by officials as a transformative moment in the state’s march towards its target of becoming a one trillion dollar economy by 2029-30.

During his engagements in Tokyo and Yamanashi, the Chief Minister held a series of strategic meetings with leading Japanese corporations spanning advanced manufacturing, semiconductors, green hydrogen, automobiles and data infrastructure. Among the prominent companies that signed Memorandums of Understanding with the Uttar Pradesh government are Kubota Corporation, Spark Minda, Japan Aviation Electronics Industry and Nagase & Co.. Productive discussions were also held with industrial giants such as Suzuki Motor Corporation, Honda Motor Co. and Mitsui & Co., strengthening prospects for expanded collaboration.

A highlight of the visit is the proposed establishment of a dedicated Japan City within the jurisdiction of the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority. Spread across 500 acres, the enclave will function as an exclusive industrial hub for Japanese enterprises, offering streamlined infrastructure and policy support. This move is expected to significantly deepen bilateral industrial ties and create high quality employment opportunities within the state.

Green Hydrogen Centre of Excellence will be set up in Uttar Pradesh through a collaborative initiative between Yamanashi University and Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur. The centre aims to promote research, skill development and innovation in next generation sustainable energy solutions, positioning the state at the forefront of India’s green transition.

The Chief Minister also experienced Japan’s cutting edge maglev train technology and visited the robotics manufacturing facilities of FANUC, underlining the state’s intent to absorb best global practices in automation and high precision engineering. Officials accompanying the delegation noted that these interactions are likely to translate into technology transfer and enhanced industrial competitiveness for Uttar Pradesh.

The Singapore leg of the tour proved equally productive. The state government secured major understandings in sectors such as Maintenance Repair and Overhaul services, cargo logistics and fintech. Singaporean collaboration will play a crucial role in developing the upcoming Jewar airport in Greater Noida into a world class MRO and cargo hub, enhancing the state’s connectivity and trade potential across Asia and beyond.

Government representatives attribute this unprecedented investor confidence to Uttar Pradesh’s improved law and order environment, transparent policies and investor friendly governance framework. Over the past few years, the state has consistently showcased itself as an emerging manufacturing and logistics powerhouse within India.

With commitments running into lakhs of crores and partnerships spanning advanced technology, clean energy and global logistics, the Singapore and Japan visit has firmly placed Uttar Pradesh on the international investment map. The scale of agreements reflects not only diplomatic outreach but also a strategic economic vision aimed at reshaping the industrial landscape of India’s most populous state.
