IIE DIGITAL DESK ; Ahmedabad, June 3: The late-night operation, Ahmedabad Police and the Crime Branch launched an extensive crackdown across several parts of the city, detaining more than 290 suspected individuals during coordinated raids. The operation, carried out in areas including Chandola, Gulabnagar, and Khodiyarnagar, resulted in the identification of 131 individuals suspected of being illegal Bangladeshi immigrants. Authorities are also conducting intensive questioning of around 160 other suspects as part of the ongoing investigation.

Ahmedabad Police, the citywide operation was aimed at tracing and identifying suspected illegal Bangladeshi infiltrators residing in various localities. Teams from the Crime Branch and local police units conducted searches at multiple locations and verified identity documents and residential records as part of the exercise.

Officials stated that more than 100 Bangladeshi nationals have been taken into custody by the Ahmedabad Crime Branch and are currently being interrogated. The authorities are examining documents, verifying personal details, and investigating possible networks that may have facilitated their stay in the city.

The operation, Ahmedabad Crime Branch Joint Commissioner of Police Sharad Singhal said, “During a major operation conducted late at night, Ahmedabad Police and the Crime Branch launched search drives in several areas, including Chandola, Gulabnagar, and Khodiyarnagar, to trace suspected illegal Bangladeshi infiltrators. More than 290 suspects have been taken into police custody and are currently being questioned by the Crime Branch.”

He further stated that, according to Crime Branch officials, a total of 131 individuals have so far been detained from different locations and identified as suspected illegal Bangladeshi nationals. An additional 160 suspects are presently undergoing detailed interrogation at the Crime Branch headquarters as officials continue document verification and background checks.

The large-scale operation is part of an ongoing effort by law enforcement agencies to identify illegal foreign nationals and ensure compliance with immigration and residency regulations. Authorities have indicated that further action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation and verification process currently underway.
