
President Murmu had presented Padma Awards to 66 eminent personalities in the first phase of the award ceremony. The Padma Awards are among India’s highest civilian honours and recognise individuals for their exceptional contributions and achievements in various fields of national importance.
The awards are announced every year on the occasion of Republic Day and are conferred in recognition of excellence across a wide range of disciplines, including art, social work, public affairs, science and engineering, trade and industry, medicine, literature and education, sports, and civil service.
The Padma Vibhushan is awarded for exceptional and distinguished service of the highest order, while the Padma Bhushan recognises distinguished service of a high order. The Padma Shri is given for distinguished service in any field, honouring individuals who have made significant contributions to society through their dedication, talent, and achievements.
The second phase of the 2026 Padma Awards ceremony will once again highlight the remarkable achievements of personalities from diverse backgrounds who have played a significant role in enriching the nation through their outstanding work and service.
