
IIE DIGITAL DESK ; New Delhi, June 29: Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge took oath as a member of the Rajya Sabha on Monday in the presence of Vice-President and Rajya Sabha Chairman C. P. Radhakrishnan.
The oath-taking ceremony was held in the Vice-President’s chamber, where Kharge was administered the oath as a member of the Upper House. Several senior leaders and dignitaries were present on the occasion, including Union Ministers J. P. Nadda, Kirren Rijiju and Arjun Ram Meghwal. Senior Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra were also present during the ceremony.
Kharge has been re-elected to the Rajya Sabha and will continue to represent Karnataka in the Upper House of Parliament. He took the oath in Hindi.
The oath-taking, Rajya Sabha Chairman C. P. Radhakrishnan congratulated Kharge and remarked that the House would certainly benefit from his long political and parliamentary experience. He expressed confidence that Kharge’s contributions would continue to enrich the proceedings of the Rajya Sabha.
The ceremony reflected the significance of Kharge’s continued presence in Parliament, where he remains one of the most senior leaders of the Congress party and a prominent voice in national politics. As Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, his re-election is expected to play an important role in shaping debates and discussions in the Upper House.
The oath was formally administered by Vice-President and Rajya Sabha Chairman C. P. Radhakrishnan, who read out the oath of office and secrecy to Kharge in his chamber, marking the beginning of another term for the veteran Congress leader in the Rajya Sabha.
