SUV plunges into gorge in Himachal's Chamba; 7 dead.
IIE DIGITAL DESK ; Chamba, June 18: The horrific road accident once again struck Himachal Pradesh’s Chamba district. On Wednesday night, an SUV lost control while travelling on the Chamba–Masrund road and fell into a deep gorge. Seven people were killed in the accident.
Superintendent of Police Dinesh Sharma said, “After receiving information about the accident on Thursday morning, police teams began rescue operations with the help of locals. All bodies have been recovered. A total of seven people, including three women and four men, have died in the accident and their bodies have been sent for post-mortem. Further investigation is underway.”
Police said that the vehicle lost control near Chatrund on the Chamba–Masrund road in Chamba district on Wednesday night and plunged into a deep gorge, killing seven people. The victims were residents of Mahal village under Kuthered Gram Panchayat.
Six people died on the spot when the vehicle fell into the gorge, while another victim later succumbed to injuries, police confirmed.
