FIH Women’s Nations Cup: India secure semifinal ticket with win over Uruguay
IIE DIGITA DESK ; June 18: India came from behind to defeat Uruguay 3-2 in the FIH Women’s Nations Cup held in New Zealand on Thursday, securing the top spot in Pool ‘A’.
Deepika scored two goals, while Deepika Soreng added one, helping India register their third consecutive win in the tournament. Earlier, they had defeated the United States and Japan.
The United States finished second in the pool stage and have joined India in the semifinals. To secure a place in the final, India will face the winner of the Chile vs South Korea quarterfinal on June 20.
