IIE DIGITAL DESK : March 26: Every IPL season brings new stars into the spotlight, and this year Mangesh Yadav has emerged as one of the most inspiring stories. The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have signed Yadav for ₹5.20 crore, but his path to the IPL is far from ordinary. Born and raised in Madhya Pradesh, Mangesh grew up in a family where financial struggles were a daily reality. His father, Ram Avadh Yadav, worked as a truck driver, often waking up at 3 am to begin long days on the road, yet he never let financial hardship come in the way of his son’s cricketing dreams.

Mangesh’s father took loans to cover expenses for cricket coaching, equipment, and travel, ensuring that Mangesh could pursue the sport despite their limited means. Speaking to India Today, Ram Avadh Yadav shared, “I had to fight for every rupee. There were nights I couldn’t sleep, thinking about how to give him a proper life. Life as a truck driver is not easy. Sometimes, there was barely time to eat or rest.”

Starting with tennis-ball cricket, Mangesh traveled across Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh to play matches, often enduring journeys in unreserved train compartments. A family friend recognized his talent and sent him to Noida for advanced training when he was just 16, covering the expenses personally. There, coach Fulchand Sharma of the Wonder Cricket Club identified Mangesh’s potential and began rigorous training, shaping the foundation of his professional career.

Mangesh has often credited his father for his journey. He recalls, “When I went to Delhi, my father gave me ₹24,000. I still don’t know how he arranged that money.” Today, after signing with RCB, Mangesh and his family have seen their lives transform. At one point, relatives had questioned whether investing in his cricketing career would yield any results, but the IPL contract has silenced all doubts and validated their sacrifices.

The IPL 2025 season begins on March 28, with RCB taking on Sunrisers Hyderabad. Mangesh is expected to make his debut in this match, especially with Yash Dayal not playing this season, offering him a significant opportunity to showcase his talent on cricket’s biggest domestic stage.
