IIE DIGITAL DESK ; Howrah, July 29: The sacred occasion of Guru Purnima, West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari visited Belur Math on Wednesday to offer his prayers and pay homage in keeping with the spiritual significance of the day.

The Chief Minister arrived at the headquarters of the Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission in the morning, where he was warmly received by the senior monks of Belur Math. His visit formed part of the Guru Purnima observances, a day dedicated to expressing reverence and gratitude towards spiritual teachers and gurus across India.

Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari met the President of the Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, Swami Gautamanandaji Maharaj. He offered his respectful pranam at the revered monk’s feet and sought his blessings on the auspicious occasion. The interaction reflected the traditional observance of Guru Purnima, which holds immense spiritual and cultural importance for devotees.

The Chief Minister also held cordial meetings with other senior monks of Belur Math and exchanged greetings with them. The visit was marked by an atmosphere of devotion, peace, and spiritual reflection as devotees from different parts of the state gathered at the historic monastery to participate in the Guru Purnima celebrations.

Belur Math, founded by Swami Vivekananda and serving as the global headquarters of the Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, witnesses a large number of devotees during Guru Purnima every year. The festival is observed with special prayers, devotional programmes, and offerings in honour of spiritual teachers, making it one of the most significant occasions in the institution's annual religious calendar.
